El presidente de la Rep\u00fablica, Luis Lacalle Pou, recibi\u00f3 la Insignia de Oro de la Americas Society – Council of the America (AS-COA), en la 41.\u00aa edici\u00f3n de la Fiesta de la Primavera de la organizaci\u00f3n, celebrada este martes 13, en la ciudad de Nueva York, Estados Unidos. \u201cRecibo honrado este premio, pensando en lo que a\u00fan podemos hacer\u201d, expres\u00f3 el mandatario.
\u201cMe siento muy orgulloso y honrado de estar con ustedes esta noche\u201d, sostuvo el presidente Lacalle Pou, tras recibir el premio, y agreg\u00f3 que el galard\u00f3n es para el pueblo de Uruguay.
Durante la ceremonia, el presidente de la Junta Directiva de AS-COA, Andr\u00e9s Gluski, manifest\u00f3 que se reconoc\u00eda al presidente Lacalle Pou con la m\u00e1xima distinci\u00f3n de la organizaci\u00f3n por su destacado liderazgo y su visi\u00f3n de Uruguay. \u201cEn un momento en que nuestra regi\u00f3n enfrenta serios desaf\u00edos, Uruguay es un verdadero modelo de democracia y progreso econ\u00f3mico, no solo para Am\u00e9rica Latina, sino para el mundo\u201d, manifest\u00f3.
El evento de premiaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n incluy\u00f3 la entrega de la Medalla de Oro al empresario brasile\u00f1o Rubens Ometto Silveira Mello, fundador y presidente de Cosan, Compass Gas & Energ\u00eda, Comgas, Rumo y Raizen.
La presidenta y directora ejecutiva de la AS-COA, Susan Segal, en tanto, asever\u00f3: \u201cCada uno de nuestros homenajeados ha logrado mucho y brindado un liderazgo necesario en un mundo cada vez m\u00e1s cambiante. Esta noche es particularmente especial porque estamos honrando a un l\u00edder del sector privado y a un l\u00edder del sector p\u00fablico, destacando la necesidad de liderazgo y cooperaci\u00f3n entre los sectores p\u00fablico y privado como el camino hacia el \u00e9xito y la oportunidad\u201d.
