El D\u00eda Internacional de lucha contra el C\u00e1ncer Infantil es una campa\u00f1a colaborativa para crear conciencia sobre el c\u00e1ncer infantil y expresar apoyo a los ni\u00f1os y adolescentes con c\u00e1ncer, los sobrevivientes y sus familias. El lema para 2022 es \u00abLograr la curaci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer infantil es posible\u00bb #ATrav\u00e9sDeTusManos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DATOS SOBRE C\u00c1NCER INFANTIL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El c\u00e1ncer es una de las principales causas de mortalidad entre ni\u00f1os y adolescentes en todo el mundo; cada a\u00f1o se diagnostica c\u00e1ncer a aproximadamente 280.000 ni\u00f1os de entre 0 y 19 a\u00f1os.
En Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe, se estima que al menos 29.000 ni\u00f1as, ni\u00f1os y adolescentes menores de 19 a\u00f1os resultar\u00e1n afectados por el c\u00e1ncer anualmente. De ellos, cerca de 10.000 fallecer\u00e1n a causa de esta enfermedad.
En los pa\u00edses de ingresos altos, m\u00e1s del 80% de los ni\u00f1os afectados de c\u00e1ncer se curan, pero en muchos pa\u00edses de ingresos medianos y bajos la tasa de curaci\u00f3n es de aproximadamente el 20%
El impacto del c\u00e1ncer infantil se traduce en a\u00f1os de vida perdidos, en mayores desigualdades y en dificultades econ\u00f3micas. Esto puede y debe cambiar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LO QUE HACE LA OPS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

En un esfuerzo por fortalecer la respuesta del sistema de salud al c\u00e1ncer infantil, la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud, junto con el St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, est\u00e1n colaborando con los Ministerios de Salud, onc\u00f3logos pedi\u00e1tricos y fundaciones para desarrollar Planes Nacionales de C\u00e1ncer Infantil, en el marco de la Iniciativa Global para el C\u00e1ncer Infantil (GICC) de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El GICC tiene como objetivo reducir el sufrimiento de los ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as con c\u00e1ncer y lograr una tasa de supervivencia al c\u00e1ncer de al menos el 60% para el a\u00f1o 2030<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
